Day 2 - Arrive in Dublin
Welcome to Dublin! Start exploring Dublin on your Hop-On Hop-Off city sightseeing tour. You'll see all of the city's most famous sites, and you can get off the coach and back on as often as you wish (entrance fees not included). You might want to visit the Dublin Writer's Museum, a restored Georgian mansion on Parnell Square. At the museum you can learn everything you want to know about Irish literature, as famous writers are brought to life through their books, letters, and portraits. Continue on the tour with another possible stop at St Patricks Cathedral. Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, was Dean of this magnificent Cathedral from 1713-1745.
Hotel: 4* O'Callaghan Davenport Hotel

Day 3 - Dublin
This morning, you can walk to the park across from your hotel and see the famous statue of Oscar Wilde in Merrion Square Park. You can also see where Wilde lived with his family, at No 1 Merrion Square. Around the corner, visit Sweny's Pharmacy featured in James Joyce's Ulysses, where Joycean enthusiasts can take part in a reading of his works. Perhaps pay a visit to the James Joyce Centre, which is dedicated to promoting an understanding of his life and works. Why not join one of the walking tours that operate from the center and experience Joyce's Dublin? Tonight enjoy a Literary Pub Crawl. The guides are all professional actors, and they will take you on a tour of four favorite watering holes of famous writers, allowing time for performances of the works of Wilde, Joyce, Behan, and Beckett. (Breakfast)
Hotel: 4* O'Callaghan Davenport Hotel

Day 4 - Dublin / Galway
Pick up your rental car and head west to Gort and Coole Park, the home of Lady Augusta Gregory. Lady Gregory was a dramatist, folklorist and co-founder of the Abbey Theatre with Nobel Prize-winning poet William Butler Yeats. Coole Park has a long history associated with some of the greatest writers in Ireland. In the early 20th century it was the center of the Irish Literary Revival, and Yeats, George Bernard Shaw, and Sean O'Casey all came and carved their initials on the Autograph Tree, which still stands today. Continue to Galway city and enjoy an afternoon of exploring, shopping, and sightseeing. (Breakfast)
Hotel: 4* Hotel Meyrick

Day 5 - Connemara Excursion
A drive through Connemara reveals its rocky mountains, sparkling brooks, and rushing rivers. You might want to visit lakeside Kylemore Abbey with its extensive walled Victorian Garden. Maybe call in at Clifden, Ireland's "Gourmet Capital," with fine restaurants and lively pubs. Perhaps a cruise on Ireland's only fjord, Killary, is of interest. The day is yours to do as you please in this magnificent corner of the country. (Breakfast)
Hotel: 4* Hotel Meyrick

Day 6 - Galway / Sligo
Sligo is well known as being Yeats Country. In Sligo town, pay a visit to the Yeats Society which houses the Yeats Photographic Exhibition. Continue on to Drumcliff, the resting place of Yeats. Afterward you might want to pay a visit to Lissadell House, the childhood home of Constance Markievicz, one of the leaders of the 1916 Rising, her sister Eva Gore Booth and brother Josslyn Gore Booth. Yeats was friends with the Gore Booths and often stayed at Lissadell. (Breakfast)
Hotel: 4* Sligo Park Hotel

Day 7 - Sligo / Dublin
En route back to Dublin a visit to the Newgrange Megalithic Passage Tomb might interest you. Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993, Newgrange was constructed over 5,000 years ago, making it older than Stonehenge in England and the Great Pyramids in Egypt. Back in Dublin, the balance of your day is free for more sightseeing, a stroll through the colorful Georgian squares, and last-minute shopping. (Breakfast)
Hotel: 4* Dunboyne Castle Hotel

Day 8 - Depart Dublin
Return your rental car as your Irish adventure comes to an end. (Breakfast)
